Last Saturday we decided to head to Muir Woods to see the Redwood trees...it's only about an hour from our house and I had heard great things so we had to check it out!
Riley rode with her Daddy for the first half...it was quite chilly and dark once you entered the forest because they trees are so tall! There were some beautiful creeks running through...
and LOTS of huge redwood trees among other foliage!
Here we are in front of a tree trunk...it's HUGE!

A view to the sky!
Family shot in front of another huge tree trunk...
Some of the leaves on certain trees were changing color...
About halfway through Riley started to have several meltdowns due to her short nap attained while going to get our vehicles washed earlier in the day...Jason had a great idea to woo her to happiness with a walking stick and that worked for the most part...she was so cute walking with her stick all through the park!
Thanks to the early onset of darkness these days with daylight savings time we had to head out of the woods before the sun set...we realized we weren't that far from the Pacific and Stinson Beach so we decided to check it out!
The roads to Muir Woods were reminiscent of those going up a mountain to ski...we wound and wound around! However there were some fabulous views...this was our view coming out of Muir Woods and heading to Stinson Beach!
After we drove a mere 8 miles, although it felt like 20 because we were doing so many loop-d-loops, we finally got our view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean...right as the sun was setting!
So beautiful!
Note in the above picture how those ripples look so tiny and the water looks rather calm...once we parked and started walking towards the beach the waves literally sounded like thunder and they were some of the biggest waves I've ever seen...perhaps why so many surfers loves these particular waters!
Family Pic
Riley had a BLAST chasing and running from the waves...she was belly laughing the entire time and it was so fun to watch her!
Here's Riley and Jason waiting for the next wave to wash up...
Good times!
After we lured her away from the waves she discovered the sand and kept wanting to play in it...you have to understand though that this was a cold beach which is not normal to me! We let her play and then headed home...she conked out as we maneuvered the windy roads home covered with sand...it was such a fun afternoon!
